Meet Dr. Gerou

Education

Dr. Gerou has gained experience working with both the pharmaceutical industry as well as the complementary and alternative health care field. Receiving her Bachelors of Science, with honors in Psychology, from the University of Iowa in 2001, she complemented her education with a vast array of research experiences, including research in the fields of psychology, chiropractic health care, and investigational medications. She has worked intimately with patients suffering from digestive diseases (specifically colon cancer, ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease), post-operative pain, menopausal discomforts, high blood pressure & cholesterol, drug & alcohol addiction, chronic pain conditions and depression. Dr. Gerou received her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the National University of Health Sciences in 2010. Her medical training and her own personal journey serve as a strong foundation for her treatment and counseling style.

Philosophy of Care

Dr. Gerou provides a unique system of health care management focusing on the prevention of disease, promotion of wellness, and preservation of spirit. She incorporates evidence-based (researched) chiropractic medicine with the alignment principles of yoga, effectively treating a wide range of conditions, including: short-term (acute) and long-term (chronic) neck and back pain, fibromyalgia, arthritis, osteoporosis, premenstrual syndrome, carpal tunnel syndrome, sports injuries, migraines/headaches, anxiety, depression, and poor digestion among many others. A few of her non-invasive treatment options include botanical and vitamin/mineral supplementation, stress and inflammation reduction practices, manual therapy (massage and mobilization techniques), reiki energy healing, and personalized therapeutic yoga instruction inspired by the practices of Hatha, Bhakti, Kundalini, Vinyasa and Iyengar yoga.
